David Kirshner MEd, RP:

As a therapist, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, and I adapt how I work with clients based on their individual needs. My work is largely based on acceptance. I use elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). However, if there’s something you think would be helpful in your therapy journey, please tell me; I may be the therapist, but only you are the expert on yourself.

  • I have 5+ years of experience working with ADHD and Autistic children, teenagers, adults, and seniors, and their families. My clients come from a diverse range of backgrounds, and I have particular experience working with neurodivergent women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to benefit from therapy.

Outside of work, I love hiking and being in nature more than anything; I’ve hiked in the Rocky, Andes, and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges. I play Dungeons and Dragons and video games (when I can find the time!), and I have a keen special interest in animals and dinosaurs. One of my favorite things with clients is learning about their pets, and I love to show off my own dog, Jiro.

Joseph Djura Smith MA, RP (qualifying):

As a neurodivergent person, you may have tried your best to navigate society’s neurotypical expectations that do not fully accommodate Autism, ADHD, and OCD. Although you give 100%, you still end up feeling stressed, struggling with uncertainty and anxious compulsions, tired of masking, and not having enough energy for your important relationships. Through my own struggles with OCD, I empathize. I believe that when faced with these difficulties, we all have the strengths and resources to overcome our challenges.

  • I want to help you uncover your hidden strengths, embrace your neurodivergent identity, and support you in living a fulfilling life. Together, we will collaboratively develop strategies to manage sensory overload, enhance emotional regulation, and build self-advocacy skills. Through my experience as a psychotherapist, and previously as a personal trainer, I have seen the benefits of establishing healthy routines step-by-step as you practice taking a breath in the chaos and give yourself time to recognize your daily accomplishments.

Feeling like you’re running on empty doesn’t have to be your normal, and you don’t have to keep navigating this alone. Together we will create a safe space that explores your unique strengths and challenges, and celebrates your neurodivergent identity while helping you achieve your personal goals.
